He has been a columnist for Information Week, PC World, and InfoWorld, as well as spending several years as the Seattle bureau chief for InfoWorld. He has also written cover story analysis for XML Magazine. His areas of coverage have ranged from Microsoft’s object technologies to tools, application development environments, messaging middleware and operating systems to Microsoft’s Biztalk XML Server and related technologies. He won the Computer Press Association’s national award for best news story in 1993 for his coverage of Microsoft’s MS-DOS 6.0 bug debacle, and he was a key participant in InfoWorld’s landmark coverage of the IBM/Microsoft operating systems split in the early 1990’s.
